Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
TRIP 700 steel features a complex multi-phase microstructure consisting of ferrite, bainite, martensite, and 8-15% retained austenite. The transformation induced plasticity effect occurs when metastable retained austenite transforms to martensite under applied stress, providing exceptional work hardening and energy absorption capabilities.
Manufacturing Process
MetalZenith produces TRIP 700 through controlled hot rolling followed by precise continuous annealing. The critical intercritical annealing at 760-800°C and isothermal bainitic transformation at 400-450°C ensure optimal microstructural development. Advanced cooling strategies and chemical composition control maximize retained austenite stability.
Heat Treatment Parameters
The continuous annealing cycle includes heating to 800°C, controlled cooling to 450°C at 10-30°C/s, isothermal holding for 200-600 seconds, and final cooling to room temperature. This precise thermal cycle is critical for achieving the required mechanical properties and microstructural characteristics.
Quality Standards & Testing
MetalZenith's quality control includes X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy for chemical analysis, automated tensile testing per ASTM E8, microstructural examination using optical and electron microscopy, and retained austenite quantification via X-ray diffraction. Statistical process control ensures consistent product quality with Cpk values ≥ 1.33 for all critical parameters.
Forming and Processing Guidelines
TRIP 700 exhibits excellent formability with high uniform elongation and work hardening rate. Recommended forming speeds are 50-200 mm/s for optimal TRIP effect activation. The steel is suitable for complex stamping operations, deep drawing, and hydroforming applications with appropriate die design and lubrication systems.
