JIS S136 is a martensitic stainless steel with a balanced chemical composition designed to provide excellent corrosion resistance combined with high mechanical strength. The chromium content of 12.5-14.5% ensures superior corrosion resistance, while the carbon content of 0.35-0.42% provides the necessary hardenability for achieving high strength levels. The addition of molybdenum and vanadium enhances wear resistance and grain refinement.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith's optimized heat treatment process includes annealing at 840-880°C followed by slow cooling for stress relief and machinability. Hardening is performed at 1020-1050°C with oil or air quenching, followed by tempering at 150-200°C for maximum hardness or 500-600°C for improved toughness. Our controlled atmosphere furnaces ensure minimal decarburization and optimal surface quality.
Manufacturing Process
Our manufacturing process begins with electric arc furnace melting followed by ladle refining and vacuum degassing to achieve precise chemical composition and low inclusion content. The steel is cast into ingots and hot forged to break down the cast structure. Subsequent hot rolling and controlled cooling ensure uniform microstructure and mechanical properties throughout the cross-section.

MetalZenith maintains strict quality control throughout production with chemical analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, mechanical testing per JIS Z2241, ultrasonic testing for internal soundness, and dimensional inspection. All products are supplied with material certificates including chemical composition, mechanical properties, and heat treatment records.
