Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
GB 9Cr18Mo is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel with excellent hardenability due to its balanced chromium and molybdenum content. The steel exhibits a fully martensitic structure after hardening, providing exceptional wear resistance and dimensional stability. The molybdenum addition enhances corrosion resistance and improves hardenability, while maintaining good machinability in the annealed condition.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith employs precise heat treatment protocols to optimize GB 9Cr18Mo performance. Annealing is performed at 840-880°C followed by slow cooling to achieve maximum machinability. Hardening involves heating to 1010-1050°C with oil or air quenching, followed by tempering at 150-200°C to achieve target hardness of 58-62 HRC. Stress relieving at 650-700°C may be applied to minimize residual stresses.
Manufacturing Process Excellence
Our manufacturing process begins with vacuum induction melting using premium raw materials to ensure chemical homogeneity and minimize inclusions. Electroslag remelting further refines the steel structure, followed by hot forging and rolling operations under controlled conditions. Cold working processes including drawing, rolling, and machining are performed using advanced equipment to maintain tight dimensional tolerances and superior surface quality.
Quality Standards & Testing
MetalZenith maintains compliance with GB/T 1220, ASTM A276, and EN 10088 standards. Comprehensive testing includes chemical analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, mechanical property verification through tensile and hardness testing, and microstructural examination using metallographic techniques. Non-destructive testing methods including ultrasonic inspection and magnetic particle testing ensure internal soundness. Each production lot undergoes statistical process control monitoring to guarantee consistent quality and performance characteristics.
