Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
EN 1.4125 is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel with a complex microstructure consisting of martensite matrix with uniformly distributed chromium carbides. The high carbon content (0.95-1.20%) combined with chromium (16-18%) provides exceptional hardness and wear resistance while maintaining adequate corrosion resistance. The steel exhibits excellent hardenability and can achieve uniform hardness throughout substantial cross-sections.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith's optimized heat treatment process begins with annealing at 850-900°C followed by slow cooling to achieve maximum machinability. Hardening is performed by austenitizing at 1010-1050°C, followed by oil or air quenching to achieve maximum hardness. Tempering at 150-200°C reduces brittleness while maintaining high hardness (58-62 HRC). Multiple tempering cycles ensure stress relief and dimensional stability.
Manufacturing Process Excellence
Our manufacturing process utilizes vacuum induction melting (VIM) for initial melting, followed by electroslag remelting (ESR) to achieve exceptional cleanliness and homogeneity. Hot forging and rolling operations are performed within controlled temperature ranges to optimize grain structure. Cold working operations include precision drawing, grinding, and machining to achieve tight dimensional tolerances and superior surface finish.
Quality Standards & Testing
MetalZenith maintains compliance with international standards including EN 10088-3, ASTM A276, and JIS G4303. Our comprehensive testing protocol includes chemical analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, mechanical testing per ASTM E8, hardness testing per ASTM E18, and ultrasonic inspection per ASTM A388. Microstructure analysis and grain size determination ensure optimal metallurgical properties. All products are supplied with certified test reports and full material traceability documentation.
