Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
GB 65Mn is a high-carbon manganese spring steel with a predominantly pearlitic microstructure in the annealed condition. The high carbon content (0.62-0.70%) provides excellent hardenability and strength, while manganese (0.90-1.20%) enhances hardenability, reduces critical cooling rate, and improves toughness. The steel exhibits excellent spring properties due to its ability to undergo significant elastic deformation without permanent set.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith employs a carefully controlled heat treatment process for optimal performance. Austenitizing is performed at 830-860°C followed by oil quenching to achieve martensitic structure. Tempering at 420-480°C develops the desired combination of hardness (42-50 HRC) and toughness. Our computer-controlled furnaces ensure uniform heating and precise temperature control throughout the process.
Manufacturing Process
Production begins with electric arc furnace melting using high-quality raw materials. The molten steel undergoes ladle refining and vacuum degassing to minimize inclusions and achieve precise chemistry. Continuous casting produces billets which are hot rolled to intermediate sizes. Final dimensions are achieved through cold drawing or machining operations, followed by appropriate heat treatment and surface finishing.
Quality Standards & Testing
All GB 65Mn steel produced by MetalZenith complies with GB/T 1222 standards and international equivalents. Comprehensive testing includes chemical analysis by optical emission spectrometry, mechanical property evaluation, metallographic examination, and non-destructive testing. Fatigue testing ensures spring performance meets application requirements. Each shipment includes certified test reports and material traceability documentation.
