Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
EN 10CrMo9-10 is a low-alloy chromium-molybdenum steel with a ferritic-pearlitic microstructure optimized for high-temperature pressure vessel applications. The chromium content (2.0-2.5%) provides oxidation resistance and enhances hardenability, while molybdenum (0.9-1.1%) significantly improves creep resistance and high-temperature strength through solid solution strengthening and carbide formation.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith employs a controlled normalization process at 920-960°C followed by tempering at 680-720°C to achieve optimal mechanical properties. This heat treatment cycle refines the grain structure, promotes uniform carbide distribution, and develops the required balance of strength, toughness, and creep resistance. Our computer-controlled furnaces ensure precise temperature uniformity within ±5°C.
Manufacturing Process
Production begins with electric arc furnace melting using premium scrap and alloy additions, followed by ladle refining and vacuum degassing to achieve ultra-low sulfur and phosphorus levels. Continuous casting produces high-quality billets with minimal segregation. Controlled rolling at temperatures between 1050-1200°C ensures proper grain refinement and mechanical property development.
Quality Standards & Testing
All EN 10CrMo9-10 products undergo comprehensive testing per EN 10028-2 requirements including chemical analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, tensile testing, Charpy V-notch impact testing, and hardness verification. Ultrasonic testing per EN 10160 Class S2/E3 ensures internal soundness. Creep rupture testing validates long-term high-temperature performance. Complete material certificates per EN 10204 Type 3.1 are provided with full traceability documentation.
