Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
EN 1.4410 exhibits a balanced duplex microstructure consisting of approximately 50% austenite and 50% ferrite phases. This unique dual-phase structure provides exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking compared to conventional austenitic stainless steels. The high chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen content ensures excellent pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, with a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) of approximately 35.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith applies solution annealing at 1020-1100°C followed by rapid cooling to achieve optimal microstructure balance. Our controlled cooling process prevents harmful intermetallic phase precipitation while maintaining the desired austenite-ferrite ratio. Post-processing stress relief treatments at 300-400°C may be applied for machined components to optimize dimensional stability.
Manufacturing Excellence
Our advanced manufacturing process begins with vacuum induction melting using premium raw materials, followed by electroslag remelting for enhanced cleanliness. Hot working operations are performed within the temperature range of 950-1200°C, with careful control of finishing temperatures to prevent grain growth. Cold working capabilities include precision drawing, rolling, and forming operations with intermediate annealing cycles as required.
Quality Standards & Certifications
All EN 1.4410 products manufactured by MetalZenith comply with international standards including EN 10088-2, ASTM A240/A240M, and JIS G4305. Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015, with additional certifications including PED 2014/68/EU for pressure equipment applications. Each product batch includes comprehensive mill test certificates with full chemical analysis, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance test results, ensuring complete traceability and compliance with customer specifications.
