Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
EN 13CrMo4-5 is a low-alloy chrome-molybdenum steel with a ferritic-pearlitic microstructure optimized for high-temperature pressure vessel applications. The chromium content provides oxidation resistance and hardenability, while molybdenum enhances creep strength and thermal stability. The controlled carbon content ensures excellent weldability without preheating requirements for most applications.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith's EN 13CrMo4-5 undergoes precision heat treatment consisting of normalizing at 920-960°C followed by tempering at 680-720°C. This thermal processing develops optimal mechanical properties and stress relief while maintaining fine grain structure. Our computer-controlled furnaces ensure uniform heating and cooling rates, resulting in consistent microstructure and mechanical properties throughout the material cross-section.
Manufacturing Excellence
Our advanced steelmaking process begins with electric arc furnace melting using premium raw materials, followed by ladle refining and vacuum degassing to achieve ultra-low inclusion content. Continuous casting and controlled rolling ensure excellent surface quality and dimensional accuracy. Post-rolling heat treatment in protective atmosphere furnaces prevents decarburization and surface oxidation.
Quality Standards & Compliance
All EN 13CrMo4-5 products manufactured by MetalZenith comply with international standards including EN 10028-2, ASTM A387 Grade 11, and PED 2014/68/EU requirements. Our quality management system encompasses complete chemical analysis, mechanical property testing, ultrasonic inspection, and microstructural examination. Full traceability documentation and material certificates are provided with every shipment, ensuring compliance with pressure equipment regulations and customer specifications.
