Product Overview
Metallurgical Structure & Properties
DP 600 dual phase steel features a unique microstructure consisting of approximately 70-80% ferrite matrix with 20-30% martensite islands. This dual phase microstructure is achieved through controlled cooling from the intercritical annealing temperature range (750-850°C), where austenite transforms to martensite while ferrite remains stable. The soft ferrite matrix provides excellent ductility and formability, while the hard martensite islands contribute to high strength and work hardening capacity.
Manufacturing Process
MetalZenith produces DP 600 through advanced hot rolling followed by controlled cooling or cold rolling with continuous annealing. The critical process parameters include precise temperature control during intercritical annealing, controlled cooling rates of 10-50°C/s, and optimized chemical composition. Our state-of-the-art continuous annealing lines ensure uniform microstructure development and consistent mechanical properties across the entire coil width and length.
Heat Treatment & Processing
The steel is supplied in the as-rolled or annealed condition and does not require additional heat treatment. For forming operations, DP 600 exhibits excellent cold formability with superior stretch flangeability compared to conventional high-strength steels. The material can be welded using resistance spot welding, laser welding, and arc welding techniques with appropriate welding parameters and post-weld cooling rates.
Quality Standards & Testing
MetalZenith maintains strict quality control through comprehensive testing protocols including tensile testing per ASTM E8, microstructural analysis, hole expansion testing per ISO 16630, and bend testing per VDA 238-100. All products are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 quality management systems with full traceability and material certification. Statistical process control ensures consistent mechanical properties and dimensional accuracy meeting automotive industry requirements.
