Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
EN 1.3343 is a tungsten-molybdenum high speed steel with a complex carbide structure that provides exceptional wear resistance and hot hardness. The steel contains primary MC carbides (rich in vanadium) and secondary M6C and M23C6 carbides (rich in tungsten, molybdenum, and chromium). This carbide distribution ensures superior cutting edge retention and thermal stability at elevated temperatures up to 600°C.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith's optimized heat treatment process begins with preheating to 850°C, followed by austenitizing at 1210-1230°C in protective atmosphere or vacuum. Quenching is performed in oil, air, or salt bath depending on section size. Triple tempering at 540-580°C achieves optimal hardness of 62-65 HRC while maintaining toughness. Our controlled atmosphere furnaces ensure consistent results and prevent decarburization.
Manufacturing Excellence
MetalZenith employs advanced vacuum induction melting (VIM) followed by electroslag remelting (ESR) to achieve exceptional cleanliness and homogeneity. Our powder metallurgy route offers even finer carbide distribution for premium applications. Hot working is performed between 1150-950°C with careful temperature control to optimize microstructure. Cold working capabilities include precision grinding, turning, and electrical discharge machining.
Quality Standards and Testing
All EN 1.3343 products undergo comprehensive testing including chemical analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, mechanical property verification, ultrasonic inspection for internal soundness, and microstructural examination. MetalZenith maintains ISO 9001:2015 certification and complies with international standards including ASTM A600, EN 10027, and JIS G4403. Complete traceability documentation and material certificates are provided with every shipment.
