The subsequent tempering process at 150-250°C optimizes the balance between hardness and toughness while maintaining excellent wear resistance properties.
Manufacturing Process Excellence
MetalZenith employs electric arc furnace steelmaking with secondary refining processes including ladle furnace treatment and vacuum degassing to achieve superior cleanliness and chemical homogeneity. The continuous casting process ensures consistent internal structure, while controlled rolling and accelerated cooling technology optimize grain refinement and mechanical properties throughout the plate thickness.
Weldability & Fabrication Guidelines
NM500 demonstrates excellent weldability when proper procedures are followed. Preheating to 150-200°C is recommended for sections thicker than 20mm. Low hydrogen electrodes (E7018 or equivalent) should be used with interpass temperatures maintained below 250°C. Post-weld stress relief is typically not required for most applications, making NM500 ideal for fabrication-intensive projects.
