JIS SKS3 is a high-carbon, low-alloy tool steel with a pearlitic microstructure in the annealed condition. The steel contains spheroidized carbides distributed in a ferrite matrix, providing excellent machinability while maintaining hardenability. The addition of chromium and tungsten enhances wear resistance and provides moderate hot hardness.

Heat Treatment Process

MetalZenith's optimized heat treatment protocol includes:

  • Annealing: 750-780°C, slow cooling to achieve 207-255 HB
  • Hardening: 780-820°C, oil quenching to achieve 60-64 HRC
  • Tempering: 150-200°C for maximum hardness, 400-500°C for toughness
  • Stress relieving: 600-650°C after machining operations

Manufacturing Process Excellence

Our production process begins with carefully selected raw materials melted in electric arc furnaces under controlled atmospheric conditions. Secondary refining through ladle metallurgy ensures precise chemistry control and inclusion modification.
