Product Overview
Metallurgical Structure and Characteristics
CP 800 complex phase steel features a sophisticated microstructure consisting of ferrite, bainite, martensite, and retained austenite phases. This multi-phase composition is achieved through controlled thermomechanical processing and precise cooling strategies that optimize the balance between strength and formability. The fine-grained microstructure provides excellent work hardening characteristics and superior crash energy absorption properties.
Manufacturing Process
MetalZenith produces CP 800 steel through advanced hot rolling followed by controlled cooling processes. The manufacturing sequence includes:
- Vacuum degassing and continuous casting for clean steel production
- Thermomechanical controlled processing (TMCP) with precise temperature control
- Accelerated cooling and controlled coiling temperature
- Optional cold rolling and continuous annealing for enhanced properties
Heat Treatment and Processing
CP 800 steel is typically supplied in the as-rolled or normalized condition. For specific applications requiring modified properties, controlled heat treatment can be applied. The steel exhibits excellent weldability using conventional welding processes including MIG, TIG, and resistance welding. Preheating is generally not required for thicknesses up to 6mm.
Quality Standards and Testing
All CP 800 steel products undergo comprehensive testing including chemical analysis, mechanical property verification, microstructural examination, and dimensional inspection. MetalZenith maintains full traceability from raw materials through final delivery, with complete mill test certificates provided for each shipment. Advanced testing capabilities include electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and fatigue testing to ensure consistent quality and performance.
