Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
AISI 8630 is a low-alloy steel belonging to the nickel-chromium-molybdenum family, characterized by excellent hardenability and through-hardening properties. The combination of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum provides superior toughness, strength, and resistance to temper brittleness compared to plain carbon steels.
Heat Treatment Processing
MetalZenith's heat treatment process for AISI 8630 involves austenitizing at 845-870°C, followed by oil quenching to achieve martensitic structure. Tempering is performed at 540-650°C depending on desired hardness levels. Our controlled atmosphere furnaces ensure uniform heating and prevent decarburization, while precise quench media selection optimizes distortion control.
Manufacturing Process Excellence
Our AISI 8630 production utilizes electric arc furnace melting with secondary refining through ladle metallurgy and vacuum degassing. Continuous casting ensures homogeneous chemical composition, while controlled rolling and cooling optimize grain structure. Post-processing includes precision machining, surface treatments, and comprehensive quality testing including ultrasonic examination for internal soundness.
Quality Standards & Certifications
MetalZenith maintains compliance with international standards including ASTM A29, SAE J404, and EN 10083-3. Our quality management system encompasses incoming raw material inspection, in-process monitoring, and final product testing. Each shipment includes certified mill test certificates with complete chemical analysis, mechanical properties, and traceability documentation meeting aerospace, automotive, and industrial requirements.
