Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
EN S960QL is a fine-grained structural steel produced through controlled rolling followed by quenching and tempering heat treatment. The steel features a tempered martensitic microstructure with fine carbide precipitates, providing exceptional strength while maintaining good toughness and weldability. The low carbon equivalent (CEV ≤ 0.65%) ensures excellent weldability without preheating in most applications.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith employs a precisely controlled quenching and tempering process. The steel is austenitized at 900-950°C, followed by water quenching to achieve a martensitic structure. Subsequent tempering at 580-650°C develops the final mechanical properties while relieving internal stresses. Our computer-controlled furnaces ensure uniform heating and cooling rates throughout the material cross-section.
Manufacturing Process
Production begins with electric arc furnace melting followed by ladle refining and vacuum degassing to achieve ultra-low sulfur and phosphorus contents. Continuous casting produces high-quality billets which undergo controlled rolling in our state-of-the-art rolling mills. The thermomechanical controlled processing (TMCP) refines the grain structure and optimizes mechanical properties.
Quality Standards & Certifications
All EN S960QL products are manufactured in accordance with EN 10025-6 standard and undergo comprehensive testing including chemical analysis, tensile testing, impact testing, and hardness verification. MetalZenith maintains ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and OHSAS 18001 certifications. Each delivery includes complete mill test certificates with full traceability documentation and compliance with CE marking requirements.
