Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
MetalZenith's NM400 wear resistant steel features a martensitic microstructure achieved through controlled quenching and tempering processes. The steel's exceptional wear resistance is attributed to its high carbon content and carefully balanced alloy composition, including chromium, manganese, and boron additions that enhance hardenability and toughness.
Heat Treatment Process
Our advanced heat treatment process involves austenitizing at 900-950°C followed by controlled water quenching to achieve the desired martensitic structure. Subsequent tempering at 150-250°C optimizes the balance between hardness and toughness. MetalZenith's precision-controlled furnaces ensure uniform heating and cooling rates for consistent mechanical properties throughout the steel plate.
Manufacturing Process
The production begins with high-quality steel making using electric arc furnace technology, followed by secondary refining processes including ladle furnace treatment and vacuum degassing. Hot rolling is performed using our state-of-the-art rolling mills with precise thickness control. The final heat treatment is conducted in computer-controlled furnaces with continuous monitoring of temperature profiles and cooling rates.
Quality Standards & Testing
MetalZenith's NM400 steel complies with international standards including JIS G3128, EN 10028, and ASTM A514. Comprehensive testing includes chemical analysis using optical emission spectrometry, mechanical testing with universal testing machines, hardness verification using Brinell and Vickers methods, impact testing at various temperatures, and ultrasonic testing for internal soundness. Each batch is accompanied by material test certificates (MTC 3.1) providing complete traceability and quality documentation.
