Metallurgical Characteristics
JIS SUP7 is a medium-carbon, silicon-manganese spring steel with exceptional elastic properties and fatigue resistance. The high silicon content (1.5-2.0%) enhances elastic limit and resistance to tempering, while manganese improves hardenability and strength. The balanced composition provides optimal spring characteristics with excellent dimensional stability under cyclic loading.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith employs controlled heat treatment processes including austenitizing at 850-900°C, followed by oil quenching and tempering at 400-500°C. This treatment achieves the desired hardness range of 38-45 HRC while maintaining excellent toughness and spring properties. Stress relieving at 200-250°C is recommended after forming operations.
Manufacturing Process
Our production process begins with electric arc furnace melting using high-purity raw materials, followed by ladle refining and continuous casting. Hot rolling is performed with controlled finishing temperatures to optimize microstructure. Cold drawing operations achieve precise dimensional tolerances and improved surface finish for critical applications.
Quality Standards & Testing
All JIS SUP7 products undergo comprehensive testing including chemical analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, mechanical property testing per JIS Z2241, ultrasonic testing for internal soundness, and dimensional inspection. Fatigue testing and spring deflection analysis ensure performance reliability. Products are supplied with complete mill test certificates and traceability documentation.
