Grade 50 is a high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) structural steel with a fine-grained ferritic-pearlitic microstructure enhanced by microalloying elements. The controlled addition of vanadium, niobium, and copper provides precipitation strengthening and grain refinement, resulting in superior strength-to-weight ratios and excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance compared to conventional carbon steels.

Heat Treatment Process

MetalZenith employs controlled rolling at temperatures between 850-950°C followed by accelerated cooling to achieve optimal mechanical properties. Our thermomechanical controlled processing (TMCP) ensures fine grain structure and uniform strength distribution. Normalizing at 900-950°C may be applied for enhanced toughness in thick sections.
