Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
EN P235GH is a fine-grained, non-alloy structural steel with excellent weldability and formability characteristics. The steel exhibits a ferritic-pearlitic microstructure with controlled grain size achieved through aluminum deoxidation and normalized heat treatment. The low carbon content (≤ 0.16%) ensures superior weldability without preheating requirements for most applications.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith employs controlled normalizing heat treatment at 880-920°C followed by air cooling to achieve optimal mechanical properties. This process refines the grain structure, improves toughness, and ensures uniform properties throughout the material cross-section. Stress relief annealing at 580-650°C may be applied for enhanced dimensional stability.
Manufacturing Process Excellence
Our production process begins with carefully selected raw materials processed in electric arc furnaces with secondary refining through ladle metallurgy. Continuous casting ensures homogeneous chemical composition, while controlled rolling parameters optimize the final microstructure. Advanced cooling strategies and precise temperature control throughout processing guarantee consistent mechanical properties.
Quality Standards & Certifications
Every batch of EN P235GH steel undergoes comprehensive testing including chemical analysis by optical emission spectrometry, tensile testing, Charpy V-notch impact testing, and ultrasonic inspection. MetalZenith maintains certifications to ISO 9001:2015, PED 2014/68/EU, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ensuring compliance with international pressure equipment standards.
Welding & Fabrication Guidelines
EN P235GH exhibits excellent weldability with all conventional welding processes including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and SAW. No preheating is typically required for sections up to 30mm thickness. Post-weld heat treatment at 580-650°C is recommended for pressure vessel applications to relieve residual stresses and optimize service performance.
