EN 60Si2Mn is a high-carbon spring steel with silicon and manganese as primary alloying elements. The silicon content (1.6-2.0%) significantly enhances elastic properties and resistance to decarburization during heat treatment, while manganese (0.6-0.9%) improves hardenability and strength. The controlled carbon content (0.56-0.64%) provides optimal balance between strength and ductility for spring applications.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith employs a carefully controlled heat treatment cycle consisting of austenitization at 850-880°C, followed by oil quenching to achieve martensitic structure. Subsequent tempering at 420-480°C develops the desired combination of strength, toughness, and elastic properties. Our automated heat treatment systems ensure uniform temperature distribution and precise control of cooling rates.
Manufacturing Process
Our production process begins with electric arc furnace melting using high-purity raw materials, followed by ladle refining and continuous casting. Hot rolling is performed with controlled finishing temperatures to achieve optimal grain structure. Cold drawing operations provide precise dimensional accuracy and enhanced surface finish. All processes are monitored using advanced process control systems.
Quality Standards & Testing
Every batch undergoes comprehensive testing including chemical analysis by optical emission spectrometry, mechanical property evaluation, microstructure examination, and dimensional verification. Non-destructive testing methods such as ultrasonic inspection ensure internal soundness. All products are supplied with mill test certificates complying with EN 10204 Type 3.1 requirements.
