Technical Specifications

Product Overview

Metallurgical Characteristics

AISI 410 is a straight chromium martensitic stainless steel with 11.5-13.5% chromium content, providing excellent corrosion resistance in mild environments. The martensitic microstructure develops through controlled cooling from austenitic temperatures, resulting in high strength and hardness capabilities. MetalZenith's precision melting process ensures optimal carbide distribution and grain refinement for enhanced mechanical properties.

Heat Treatment Process

Annealing: Heat to 815-870°C, hold for uniform temperature, then furnace cool to below 600°C followed by air cooling. Hardening: Austenitize at 925-1010°C, oil or air quench to achieve maximum hardness of 40 HRC. Tempering: Reheat to 150-650°C depending on desired hardness and toughness balance. MetalZenith's controlled atmosphere furnaces ensure consistent heat treatment results with minimal oxidation and decarburization.

Manufacturing Process

MetalZenith employs electric arc furnace melting with argon oxygen decarburization (AOD) refining to achieve precise chemical composition control. The molten steel undergoes vacuum degassing to minimize hydrogen and nitrogen content, followed by continuous casting into billets or slabs. Hot rolling operations utilize computer-controlled rolling mills to achieve dimensional accuracy and optimal microstructure development.

Quality Standards & Testing

All AISI 410 products undergo comprehensive testing including chemical analysis via optical emission spectroscopy, mechanical property verification through tensile and hardness testing, and microstructural examination. Non-destructive testing methods including ultrasonic inspection and magnetic particle testing ensure internal soundness. MetalZenith maintains compliance with ASTM A276, A479, A240, EN 10088, and JIS G4303 standards, with full material traceability and certification documentation provided.
