GB 42CrMo is a low-alloy steel with chromium and molybdenum as primary alloying elements, providing excellent hardenability and through-hardening properties. The chromium content enhances corrosion resistance and hardenability, while molybdenum improves high-temperature strength and reduces temper brittleness. The balanced carbon content ensures optimal strength-to-toughness ratio.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith's heat treatment process involves austenitizing at 850-870°C followed by oil quenching to achieve martensitic structure. Tempering is performed at 550-650°C depending on required hardness levels. Our controlled atmosphere furnaces ensure uniform heating and prevent decarburization. Stress relieving at 600-650°C is recommended for machined components.
Manufacturing Process Excellence
Our production process begins with careful raw material selection and electric arc furnace melting with precise alloy addition control. Secondary refining through ladle furnace and vacuum degassing removes impurities and ensures chemical homogeneity. Continuous casting produces high-quality billets, followed by controlled rolling to achieve desired mechanical properties and grain structure.
Quality Standards and Testing
MetalZenith maintains strict quality control protocols including chemical analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, mechanical testing per ASTM and EN standards, ultrasonic testing for internal soundness, and dimensional inspection. All products are supplied with mill test certificates and full traceability documentation. Special testing including fatigue testing, fracture toughness, and corrosion testing available upon request.
