GB 20CrNiMo is a low-alloy steel with excellent hardenability due to its balanced chromium, nickel, and molybdenum content. The microstructure typically consists of tempered martensite or bainite after proper heat treatment, providing optimal strength-toughness combination. The nickel content enhances toughness and impact resistance, while chromium improves hardenability and wear resistance. Molybdenum additions prevent temper brittleness and enhance high-temperature strength.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith employs controlled heat treatment cycles optimized for GB 20CrNiMo. Austenitizing is performed at 850-880°C followed by oil quenching to achieve martensitic transformation. Tempering at 550-650°C develops the desired strength-toughness balance. Our computer-controlled furnaces ensure uniform heating, precise temperature control, and consistent cooling rates throughout the cross-section.
Manufacturing Process Excellence
Production begins with electric arc furnace melting using high-quality raw materials, followed by ladle refining and vacuum degassing to achieve superior cleanliness. Continuous casting produces homogeneous billets with minimal segregation. Hot rolling or forging operations are performed within controlled temperature ranges to optimize grain structure and mechanical properties.
Quality Standards & Testing
All GB 20CrNiMo products undergo comprehensive testing including chemical analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, mechanical property verification through tensile and impact testing, hardness measurement, and ultrasonic examination for internal soundness. Grain size analysis and microstructural evaluation ensure conformance to specifications. Complete mill test certificates accompany each shipment with full traceability documentation.
