AISI 309S is an austenitic stainless steel with a face-centered cubic crystal structure that provides excellent ductility and toughness across a wide temperature range. The high chromium content (22-24%) combined with nickel (12-15%) creates a stable austenitic matrix with superior oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures up to 1000°C. The controlled carbon content (≤0.08%) minimizes carbide precipitation, enhancing intergranular corrosion resistance.

Heat Treatment Processes
