Metallurgical Characteristics
JIS SUS410 is a straight chromium martensitic stainless steel with a body-centered cubic crystal structure. The 12% chromium content provides adequate corrosion resistance while maintaining hardenability. The martensitic structure develops upon cooling from austenitic temperatures, resulting in high strength and hardness capabilities.
Heat Treatment Processes
Annealing: Heat to 850-900°C, hold for appropriate time, then furnace cool to 600°C followed by air cooling. This treatment provides maximum ductility and machinability. Hardening: Austenitize at 950-1000°C, then oil or air quench. Tempering: Reheat to 150-700°C depending on desired hardness and toughness balance.
Manufacturing Process
MetalZenith employs electric arc furnace melting followed by argon oxygen decarburization (AOD) for precise chemistry control. The steel undergoes vacuum degassing to minimize hydrogen and nitrogen content, ensuring superior mechanical properties. Hot rolling is performed above 1050°C with controlled cooling to achieve optimal microstructure.
Quality Standards & Testing
All JIS SUS410 products comply with JIS G4303 standards and undergo comprehensive testing including chemical analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, mechanical testing per JIS Z2241, ultrasonic examination for internal soundness, and dimensional verification. Mill test certificates provide complete traceability and property documentation.
