EN L415 steel features a fine-grained ferrite-pearlite microstructure achieved through controlled thermomechanical processing. The steel's enhanced strength derives from solid solution strengthening, grain refinement, and precipitation hardening mechanisms. Microalloying elements such as niobium and vanadium contribute to grain refinement and precipitation strengthening, while maintaining excellent weldability and toughness properties.

Heat Treatment Process

MetalZenith employs advanced controlled rolling followed by accelerated cooling (TMCP) to optimize the steel's microstructure. The process involves:

  • Reheating to 1150-1200°C for austenite homogenization
  • Controlled rolling in the temperature range of 850-950°C
  • Accelerated cooling at rates of 5-15°C/s to 500-600°C
  • Air cooling to ambient temperature
