Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
UNS N06059 is a precipitation-hardening nickel-based super alloy with exceptional corrosion resistance derived from its high chromium and molybdenum content. The alloy's microstructure consists of a face-centered cubic austenitic matrix strengthened by gamma-prime (Ni3Al) precipitates formed during age hardening. This unique metallurgical structure provides outstanding resistance to localized corrosion, including pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.
Heat Treatment Process
MetalZenith's optimized heat treatment process begins with solution annealing at 1175°C (2150°F) followed by rapid cooling to dissolve precipitates and achieve a homogeneous microstructure. Age hardening is performed at 718°C (1325°F) for 8 hours, followed by furnace cooling to 621°C (1150°F) and holding for 8 hours before air cooling. This dual-aging process maximizes strength while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance.
Manufacturing Process Excellence
Our manufacturing process utilizes vacuum induction melting (VIM) followed by vacuum arc remelting (VAR) to ensure chemical homogeneity and minimize segregation. Hot working operations are performed between 1200-900°C with careful temperature control to optimize grain structure. Cold working capabilities include precision rolling, drawing, and forming operations with intermediate annealing cycles as required.
Quality Standards & Testing
All UNS N06059 products manufactured by MetalZenith comply with ASTM B575, B619, B622, and B626 specifications. Comprehensive testing includes chemical analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, mechanical property verification, intergranular corrosion testing per ASTM G28, and critical pitting temperature evaluation. Non-destructive testing includes ultrasonic inspection, eddy current testing, and liquid penetrant inspection as specified.
