This unique microstructure is achieved through MetalZenith's controlled intercritical annealing process followed by rapid cooling. The ferrite phase provides excellent formability and ductility, while the martensite islands contribute to high strength and work hardening capacity.
Manufacturing Process
MetalZenith employs advanced continuous annealing technology with precise temperature control in the intercritical range (750-800°C). The steel undergoes controlled cooling at rates of 10-50°C/s to achieve optimal phase transformation. Our integrated hot-dip galvanizing lines provide superior corrosion protection while maintaining mechanical properties through careful thermal management.
Heat Treatment Response
DP 590 exhibits excellent bake hardening characteristics, gaining 30-50 MPa additional strength during paint bake cycles (170°C for 20 minutes). The steel maintains formability at room temperature while developing enhanced strength after forming operations. Welding characteristics are optimized through controlled carbon equivalent and microalloying additions.
