API 5L X52 is a low-carbon, high-strength steel with a predominantly ferritic-pearlitic microstructure. The controlled chemical composition, particularly the carbon equivalent (CE) ≤ 0.43%, ensures excellent weldability while maintaining the required mechanical properties. The fine-grained microstructure is achieved through controlled rolling and accelerated cooling processes, resulting in optimal strength-toughness balance.
Heat Treatment and Processing
MetalZenith employs thermomechanical controlled processing (TMCP) for API 5L X52 production. The steel undergoes controlled rolling at temperatures between 850-950°C, followed by accelerated cooling to achieve the desired microstructure. Normalizing heat treatment at 900-950°C may be applied for stress relief and grain refinement. Post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) at 580-650°C is recommended for thick-section welded components.
Manufacturing Process Excellence
Our integrated manufacturing process begins with electric arc furnace steelmaking, utilizing advanced ladle metallurgy for precise chemical composition control. Continuous casting ensures homogeneous structure, followed by hot rolling on state-of-the-art mills with computerized process control. Seamless pipes are produced through rotary piercing and pilger rolling, while welded pipes utilize high-frequency induction welding with 100% seam inspection.
