GB 15CrMoR is a low-alloy chromium-molybdenum steel specifically engineered for pressure vessel applications operating at elevated temperatures up to 475°C. The controlled addition of chromium (0.80-1.20%) and molybdenum (0.45-0.65%) creates a fine-grained ferritic-pearlitic microstructure with excellent creep resistance and hydrogen attack resistance. The chromium content provides enhanced oxidation resistance, while molybdenum contributes to solid solution strengthening and improved high-temperature mechanical properties.

Heat Treatment Process

MetalZenith employs a precise heat treatment protocol consisting of normalizing at 900-950°C followed by tempering at 650-700°C. This thermal processing sequence refines the grain structure, optimizes carbide distribution, and relieves residual stresses. The controlled cooling rate during normalizing ensures uniform transformation, while tempering temperature is carefully selected to achieve the optimal balance between strength and toughness. Post-weld heat treatment at 680-720°C is recommended for welded components.

Manufacturing Process

Production begins with electric arc furnace melting using high-purity raw materials, followed by ladle refining and vacuum degassing to achieve ultra-low sulfur and phosphorus levels. Continuous casting produces high-quality billets with minimal segregation. Hot rolling is performed with controlled temperature and reduction schedules to optimize grain refinement. Advanced ultrasonic testing ensures internal soundness, while dimensional accuracy is maintained through precision finishing operations.
