Product Overview
Metallurgical Characteristics
JIS SKD61 is a premium chromium-molybdenum-vanadium hot work tool steel with exceptional thermal fatigue resistance and high-temperature strength retention. The alloy's microstructure consists of tempered martensite with uniformly distributed carbides, providing optimal balance between hardness, toughness, and thermal shock resistance. MetalZenith's advanced vacuum melting process ensures minimal segregation and superior cleanliness levels.
Heat Treatment Process
Our comprehensive heat treatment protocol includes preheating to 650-700°C, austenitizing at 1000-1030°C with controlled atmosphere protection, followed by air cooling or oil quenching depending on section size. Tempering is performed at 550-650°C to achieve target hardness of 48-52 HRC. Multiple tempering cycles ensure dimensional stability and stress relief for critical applications.
Manufacturing Excellence
MetalZenith employs electric arc furnace melting followed by ladle refining and vacuum degassing to achieve superior steel cleanliness. Our forging operations utilize computer-controlled hydraulic presses with precise temperature monitoring to ensure optimal grain structure and mechanical properties. All products undergo comprehensive ultrasonic testing and dimensional verification.
Quality Standards & Certifications
Our SKD61 production maintains strict adherence to international standards including JIS G4404, ASTM A681, and EN ISO 4957. Quality management systems comply with ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D for aerospace applications, and IATF 16949 for automotive tooling. Complete traceability documentation and third-party verification services are available for all critical applications requiring enhanced quality assurance protocols.
